Your First Visit to Our Kansas City Practice

We understand that your first visit to Schumacher Chiropractic can be a little intimidating, especially if you’ve never seen a chiropractor before. Because of this, we have taken a lot of steps to make that first visit easier. Much of the reason for intimidation is the fear of the unknown. To ease this fear, let us tell you exactly what to expect.
When you walk in the door of our Kansas City office you’ll be greeted by name from one of our friendly staff members. You will be invited to take a seat in a special chair right by the front desk, in case you have any questions while you complete your paperwork. Speaking of paperwork, no one likes to fill out forms, but it is an essential part of getting to know you and your complaint(s). If you’d like, you can download the forms from this website so that you can complete the forms in the comfort of your own home.
Once the forms are completed, you’ll be escorted to the doctor’s office where he will conduct a brief consultation. Here he will ask you about your reasons for coming and listen to everything you have to say. If he believes that we can help you, he will take you back to the examination room.
Examination consists of many different components, depending on your complaint(s). Usually we will conduct a computerized postural analysis, nervous system scan, range of motion study, X-rays and various other tests to properly diagnosis your condition. The examination is extremely thorough, and designed to not only determine where your pain is coming from and if there is any damage, but it will also help detect if there are any underlying problems. Our examination is one of the most extensive that you’ll find and will help us tell you exactly where you are and what we will need to work on in order for you to regain your health. Typically our examination will last about an hour, so plan accordingly.
At the completion of your examination, you will be released and reappointed for later that day, or the next day. We do this so that the doctor has time to evaluate your examination findings and prepare a treatment plan specifically for your situation. The doctor will give you instructions for home care, such as icing or stretching, so that you are prepared to receive your first adjustment on your next visit.
Upon leaving, the staff will collect the appropriate fees and reappoint you for you next visit, and answer any questions that you might have.
